Sean Strickland backtracks after going off on "fraudulent man" David Goggins: "My mental stability is coming back lol"
Just one hour after Sean Strickland released a heated video calling David Goggins a "fraud," the former UFC middleweight champion issued an apology to the retired Navy SEAL. With neither video coming with an explanation, Strickland attributed his fluctuating emotions to being "bored and angry."
In his original video, 'Tarzan' called out Goggins for displaying a supposed fake persona online. Strickland dared the motivational influencer to show up at the Xtreme Couture gym to challenge him in person, threatening to "expose" the 49-year-old.
Strickland said:
"Let me explain to you why I make fun of David Goggins. He is a fraudulent man... You're not hard, you're not tough. You run, my man... I train at Xtreme Couture. I'm easy to find. [We both] live in Las Vegas. Show up."
Yet, in his second video which was shot from the same seat in the same car, Strickland took back everything he said. The 33-year-old admitted to being frustrated with the current middleweight title picture, using that as his reasoning for unleashing on Goggins.
In the caption of his second post, Strickland wrote:
"I'm sorry Goggins you're cool. I'm just bored and angry. You can show up but if not it's cool man you're a solid runner, you have some cool quotes. My mental stability is coming back lol"
Sean Strickland's frustration with the middleweight title picture
Claiming to be "bored and angry" with the current state of the UFC middleweight division, Sean Strickland appears to believe he is next in line for another 185-pound title shot.
After beating Paulo Costa in the co-main event of UFC 302, Strickland declared in his post-fight octagon interview that he intends to wait for another title shot no matter how long it takes. As the former champion holding a history with both Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis, 'Tarzan' appears likely to get his wish but nothing has been confirmed.
Strickland soundly beat Adesanya to win the middleweight title shockingly at UFC 293 but controversially lost it in his next outing against du Plessis at UFC 297.
