Sean Strickland condemns mask use despite WHO's alarming COVID-19 warning: "Being a b*tch isn't fatal"
Sean Strickland spoke out against wearing masks despite the World Health Organization's (WHO) warning about a new surge in COVID-19 cases. The former UFC middleweight champion has garnered notoriety for his blunt and often provocative views on various sociopolitical issues.
The United Nations health agency has raised alarms about the potential emergence of more severe coronavirus variants, cautioning that these could soon spread globally. Recent waves of infections have allegedly been recorded in North America, Europe, and the Western Pacific.
Reportedly, the surge of COVID-19 in California has been particularly severe and persistent, with alarmingly high levels of the virus detected in wastewater. Local authorities have urged residents to once again adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing masks, to ensure their safety.
However, Strickland, who is based in California, took to X to express his opposition to wearing masks, arguing that it is not a critical necessity. He posted:
"Unless you're an old Chinese woman, stop wearing a mask. It's 2024. You ain't gonna die. Being a b*tch isn't fatal; don't worry."

Strickland's last appearance in the octagon was at UFC 302 in June, where he clinched a split decision victory over Paulo Costa in the co-main event. After his win, 'Tarzan' asserted that he is now well-positioned and prepared to wait for his chance to challenge for the middleweight title once again.
When Sean Strickland advocated riots against potential lockdown in Las Vegas due to COVID-19 surge
Sean Strickland has consistently criticized the enforcement of COVID-19 protocols. In August 2023, as virus cases surged in Nevada, rumors circulated about the possibility of another lockdown being imposed in major areas of the state.
While reacting to these speculations on X, Strickland proposed extreme actions and specifically advocated for riots to prevent another lockdown:
"If they lock down Vegas because of this BS COVID flare, it's time to riot... Full on riot, let's go fight some cops in riot gear... Not doing this bs again."

In his fight against Jack Hermansson in February 2022, Strickland openly defied mandatory COVID-19 protocols by refusing to wear a mask during the weigh-ins and face-offs.
