Sean Strickland gives his take on female racing drivers: "Craziest f*cking thing"
Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, notorious for his outspoken nature, has courted controversy again. In a recent rant on X, he made inflammatory remarks about female race car drivers.
The No.1-ranked middleweight contender used sexist remarks to question the competence of women as race car drivers. He posted:
"You know what the craziest f*cking thing to me is? Female race car drivers. Vote, fight, run whatever man it's a new world of equality but like how the f*ck did someone think it was a good idea to let you all drive fast?!"
This is far from the only time 'Tarzan' has made polarizing remarks regarding gender and sexuality. During the pre-fight press conference for UFC 297, he raged at a reporter for identifying as an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, causing public backlash.
Strickland was last seen in action in a split decision win over Paulo Costa at UFC 302. The promotion's CEO, Dana White, has since confirmed 'Tarzan' as the next challenger for middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis.
However, with Khamzat Chimaev's recent high-profile first-round submission over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308, there is now considerable interest in pairing up 'Borz' with du Plessis instead.
When Sean Strickland slammed women's MMA
Despite being one of the top fighters in the world, Sean Strickland doesn't seem to have respect for female mixed martial artists. 'Tarzan' believes most people don't want to watch women's MMA.
During the pre-fight press conference at UFC 297, Strickland proclaimed that women's MMA would not survive as an independent sport and would always have to be associated with men's MMA.
'Tarzan' doubled down on his insults, stating that the men in the crowd could probably beat the female fighters on the roster:
"Women's MMA? Sure have women's MMA, have the f*cking thing. I don't like to watch it, I don't think most people like to watch it. If female's MMA were to separate from male's MMA, no one is going to watch this s**t... Do you want to watch a sports car race a Honda Civic? The fact of the matter is, anyone of you f*cks could probably beat our co-main event [Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva] in a fight."
