Sean Strickland shares major update on next fight in rant-filled post about Australian government, reaffirms he is "next in line"
Sean Strickland seems to have a different idea for the time and location for his Q1 2025 return to the cage. The next challenger for the UFC middleweight title is a bit up in the air right now with Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev as the frontrunners for that spot.
Reigning UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis recently appeared in an interview with Submission Radio and quipped about when the promotion wants him back in the cage. 'Stillknocks' stated how the company had reached out to him about fighting at UFC 312 in Sydney but nothing has been set in stone yet for the middleweight kingpin headlining the Australia-based card.
Taking to his X account Strickland seemingly responded to the comments from Du Plessis, saying:,
"I'm not fighting in Australia. Were thinking Vegas in March. I have a love for the aussies BUT I don't think you're government likes me... Which I take as a compliment!! Hate speech isn't real and ill always speak up for my kangaroo homies!!!! FRRRRREEEEEDDDOOOOOMM!"
An X user named @enchanted_nfts replied to the brash mixed martial artist by saying how they felt the UFC was doing him dirty. Strickland responded to the comment, saying:
"Na man I'm next in line.... don't trip ..."

Sean Strickland's thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev's last win
Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev are, as referenced, the frontrunners for a shot at the middleweight belt with the former supposedly reaching out to a known MMA analyst to comment on Chimaev's recent win.
Chael Sonnen, while speaking to Daniel Cormier, made a claim that Strickland texted him in the aftermath of Chimaev's teeth-crushing face crank win in the opening round over former middleweight titleholder Robert Whittaker at UFC 308.
'The American Gangster' mentioned how he reached out to Strickland asking him about how locked in he was for the Chimaev vs. Whittaker fight. Sonnen went on to say that the polarizing former middleweight champion got back to him by succinctly stating that he is next in line and that it was said as well as written.
Strickland supposedly went on to say to Sonnen that Chimaev could get the next crack after he aims to avenge a loss to du Plessis. Dana White has also previously stated that a Du Plessis vs. Strickland rematch was next on the cards but that was before Chimaev's massive victory over Whittaker. Meanwhile, Strickland's last win was a decision victory over Paulo Costa at UFC 302 in June.
