Sean Strickland talks about having no gameplan for the Jared Cannonier fight
Sean Strickland doesn’t seem worried about the dangers of fighting Jared Cannonier. Strickland will headline the last UFC event of 2022 against Cannonier on December 17. The 31-year-old middleweight is jumping right back into the fire since losing to Alex Pereira in July.
During the UFC Vegas 66 media day, he had this to say when asked about fighting ‘Killa Gorilla’:
“Do I watch MMA? No. Have I seen a couple cool highlights of the guy [Cannonier]? Yeah, sure. I don’t know, man. I fight f***ing monsters every day. Me and Ankalaev have been f***ing banging. Me and Francis will spar. I fight monsters every day.”
Sean Strickland was then asked if anything in the cage got him nervous, to which he responded:
“I mean, besides knock me the f**k out. I mean, there’s that. That could happen. That would suck, but yeah, no, 100%... I haven't really watched much on him. What do you think I should do?... Maybe I'll take him down. Maybe I kickbox. Maybe I box. I don't even know these things.”
The 31-year-old UFC middleweight was one win away from a title shot before getting viciously knocked out by Pereira. He now has an opportunity to bounce back against Jared Cannonier, who lost a title fight against Israel Adesanya last time out. Both fighters in the UFC Vegas 66 main event need a win, so it wouldn’t be shocking if the judges aren’t required.

Sean Strickland labels Paddy Pimblett as a "Conor McGregor wannabe"
Sean Strickland doesn’t seem to be a fan of Paddy Pimblett. During the UFC Vegas 66 media day, Strickland was asked about fighting Israel Adesanya if he wins against Jared Cannonier. The 31-year-old started his response by referencing his lack of followers before mentioning his intriguing press conference appearances. He suddenly fired a stray bullet at Pimblett by saying:
“I make the f***ing press conferences. Look at Paddy [Pimblett], the Conor McGregor wannabe. You don’t wanna see that f***ing guy with his gay little f***ing bowl cut. You can’t relate to that f***ing guy. That English little f***ing prick.”
Pimblett extended his UFC record to 4-0 with a controversial unanimous decision win last weekend. Although ‘The Baddy’ struggled at times, his fanbase continues to expand because of his personality. Meanwhile, Strickland caught the attention of the MMA community with his wild antics during his six-fight win streak before losing to Alex Pereira.
