Seksan reveals noble motive to start his own Muay Thai gym: “Provide them with a proper place to train”
Now that he is making steady good money competing under ONE Championship, veteran Thai fighter Seksan Or Kwanmuang is making sure he puts his earnings to good use. Among those he has channeled funds to is his new Muay Thai gym, which is free to use by local children.
'The Man Who Yields To No One' feels for kids who want to have proper training in the "art of eight limbs" but do not have the proper venue. It was the motivation that prompted him to open a gym of his own.
He shared this in an interview with ONE Championship, saying:
"The reason why I provide free training for kids [through the Sor Seksan Gym] is because I used to see many children in the neighborhood practicing boxing on the streets or in the parking lots. I felt sorry for them, so I decided to start a camp to support these kids and provide them with a proper place to train Muay Thai.
"If any child is interested in learning, they can come to the camp. It's completely free."
Seksan, 35, made his ONE debut in January last year at the promotion's ONE Friday Fights series. He won eight straight, while winning performance bonuses along the way, before losing in his last fight in April to Japanese Yutaro Asahi by unanimous decision.
Seksan looks to bounce back at ONE 168
Following his first defeat under ONE Championship last time around, Seksan Or Kwanmuang is seeking to bounce back when he returns to action next month in the United States.
The Bangkok-based fighter is featured in a catchweight (140 lbs) Muay Thai clash at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A., on Sept. 6 against the comebacking Liam Harrison of the United Kingdom.
Seksan is out to swing back to the win column after he fell to Japanese Yutaro Asahi by unanimous decision back in April.
Seeking to send him to a second straight defeat is Harrison, who will be competing after two years on the sidelines because of a knee injury. 'Hitman' was last in action in August 2022, when he vied for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against former divisional king Nong-O Hama, but got hurt in the opening round.
ONE 168: Denver will take place at the 21,000-seater Ball Arena and air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription. Tickets for the event are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.
