"She has been a huge help" - Jackie Buntan reveals Janet Todd has gone above and beyond to prep her for Anissa Meksen war
Jackie Buntan feels an enormous sense of gratitude towards Janet Todd for going out of her way to prep her for her world title war with Anissa Meksen.
The Filipina-American standout has never once trained without her long-time friend and sparring partner at the Boxing Works facility in California. Retired ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion 'JT' Janet Todd, continues to be Buntan's mentor despite walking away from the sport for good.
With the inaugural ONE strawweight kickboxing belt on the line this Friday, Buntan expressed her appreciation to Todd for prepping her for her world title brawl against kickboxing superstar Anissa Meksen.
"Even though she's retired and still working, she still finds the time to be able to help me," Buntan told Beyond Kick. "She has been a huge help giving me what I need to see: running through drills, sparring, all of that. She's always in my corner."
Jackie Buntan is just hours away from delivering one of the finest performances of her career when she clashes with Meksen at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8.
There's no doubt that Meksen will bring out only the best in Buntan and vice versa, as they both strive to solidify their names in the history books as the No. 1 kickboxer in the world.
Jackie Buntan expects upcoming fight against Anissa Meksen at ONE 169 to be a massive barnburner
Jackie Buntan is fueled up about delivering one of the most violent fights we've ever seen in kickboxing. The 27-year-old brawler loves a good fight filled with vicious knockdowns, slick combos, and brutal KOs.
Heading into ONE 169, she expects that that's where this fight with Anissa Meksen is going to go, even if her French-Algerian rival isn't prepared for it.
Speaking to ONE, she said:
"But yeah, I expect, as corny as it is, I do expect it to be a super entertaining fight with back-and-forth action. I just think there's going to be more action on my end."
