"She turns into a freaking gorilla" - Jorge Masvidal weighs in on potential Amanda Nunes vs. Kayla Harrison fight
Jorge Masvidal has backed Kayla Harrison in a potential super fight between herself and Amanda Nunes.
Harrison recently made her promotional debut on the historic UFC 300 card last weekend where she faced former champion Holly Holm. The 33-year-old then wasted no time in demonstrating her elite wrestling pedigree by taking 'The Preacher's Daughter' down at will before securing a second round rear-naked choke for the win.
During her post-fight interview, Harrison then laid out her career aspirations, asserting to fans that she would be a UFC champion before the year's end.
Following her win over Holm, Amanda Nunes shared a video on social media of her reacting to Harrison's victory, leading to fan speculation, that she is gearing for a return to the octagon.
Then, Kayla Harrison addressed Nunes' video at the post-fight presser, where she admitted she was open to defending the UFC women's bantamweight title against the Brazilian if she becomes the champ.
'Gamebred' then weighed in on the potential bout during a recent interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. According to Masvidal, who has worked and trained with both Harrison and Nunes at American Top Team, he'd have to give the edge to the American. He explained:
"Look, Holly Holm is an experienced fighter. I think she threw two knockdowns to Ronda Rousey. She knows how to fight. But you saw for yourself what Kayla did to her - she turns into a freaking gorilla when she moves you to the mat. Her striking technique is getting better and better. I would bet on Harrison to win"

When Jorge Masvidal admitted to being "afraid" of Kayla Harrison
Back in 2021 during an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Jorge Masvidal jokingly admitted to being intimidated by his American Top Team (ATT) teammate Kayla Harrison.
At the time, Harrison was dominating the competition in the Professional Fighter's League (PFL) and had recently won her first PFL women's lightweight tournament.
During the interview, Masvidal noted that Harrison saw herself as the team captain of the fighers in the gym, whereas he himself believed he had more sway than her at ATT.
Masvidal then assured Helwani and fans that his comments were meant in a joking manner, before he then praised Harrison for her elite fighting talent. He said:
"She's freaking amazing at fighting and for the most part I'm scared of her, you know, that's why I can act wild now over the phone." [H/t The MMA Hour]
