"She will have to learn self-defense" - Adriano Moraes eager to pass along the beauty of martial arts to his daughter
Former ONE flyweight MMA world champion Adriano Moraes is much happier these days after welcoming his firstborn earlier this year.
While the idea of fatherhood scares and excites 'Mikinho' at the same time, he's already looking forward to imparting an important lesson to his daughter.
Before becoming one of the best 135-pound MMA fighters in the world, Moraes began his journey through Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Needless to say, he also wants 'The Gentle Art' to be a big part of his offspring's life. The No.1-ranked flyweight contender told ONE Championship in an exclusive interview:
“And jiu-jitsu, of course. She will have to learn self-defense. I really dream of seeing her in a kimono, going to classes, training with her daddy. And in jiu-jitsu, she will learn about respect, because on the mat, children learn discipline.”
Apart from being an incredible way to defend one's self, BJJ is indeed a great character builder, especially for young minds.
It's not surprising that Adriano Moraes is eager to show his daughter the beauty of grappling and introduce her to a loving and supportive community.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian star will return to action at ONE 169: Malykhin vs Reug Reug on Nov. 8 against third-ranked contender Danny Kingad at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
This blockbuster event will air live in US Primetime free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Adriano Moraes couldn't believe Demetrious Johnson became his rival
Adriano Moraes has always looked up to Demetrious Johnson since he was one of the pioneers who put the lighter weight classes on the map.
Never in his wildest dreams that he thought a match with 'DJ' was possible for him.
Lo and behold, the 36-year-old had three epic battles with the MMA GOAT candidate and even scored a career-defining win against him.
Moraes said in an interview with Party Starter Radio:
"So you travel together and have this kind of journey and you meet a lot of legends around the world. When I fought Demetrious Johnson, I was following his career for as long as I can [remember].
'Mikinho' continued:
"I never would have imagined I was going to be fighting against him one day. I had a trilogy against him."
