"She has no wrestling" - Champ Danielle Kelly points out glaring weakness in challenger Mayssa Bastos' game
Atomweight submission grappling queen Danielle Kelly recently pointed out a significant weakness in Mayssa Bastos' game that could seriously impact her chance of winning at ONE Fight Night 24.
The American standout has multiple scenarios in place to make it a tough night for Bastos. Since the Brazilian superstar has been solely focused on gi jiu-jitsu, Kelly believes that she's probably not as well-versed in wrestling as she is in BJJ.
As we've seen through Kelly's past performances in wrestling and judo, there are takedowns to watch out for, as well as a great number of other maneuvers and techniques that could potentially threaten an opponent's chances of winning the bout.
For Kelly, anticipating and defending every possible outcome is a skill she does very well, which makes her a terrifying opponent for Bastos, who's just used to defending jiu-jitsu-oriented techniques.
The less-connected Bastos is to the wrestling world, the better it is for Danielle Kelly.
Speaking to Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu, Kelly said:
"I have good top pressure, I have good wrestling, she has no wrestling, or more like I'm not really impressed with any of her wrestling. So I feel like I have that advantage going in."

Danielle Kelly successfully passes weight and hydration one day ahead of grappling showdown with Mayssa Bastos
Danielle Kelly made weight at 114.75 pounds on Thursday to make her world title bout with Mayssa Bastos official. Mayssa Bastos also didn't struggle to make weight or pass hydration as she stepped on the scales this morning in Thailand.
The two world-class grapplers are expected to put on a fantastic action-packed show on Friday, which will keep the fans on the edge of their seats.
With Sportskeeda MMA releasing footage of their weigh-ins on Instagram moments after it happened, the fans can't contain the excitement they feel for both Kelly and Bastos.
