“Size never matters” - Nico Cornejo unfazed by teenage phenom Adrian Lee’s physical gifts
Local Colorado-based MMA fighter Nico Cornejo is getting ready to make his ONE Championship debut. Standing across from him in the Circle will be none other than teenage prodigy 'The Phenom' Adrian Lee.
Lee comes from a long line of martial arts world champions, most notably his older brother Christian Lee, the reigning ONE lightweight and welterweight MMA world champion, and sister Angela Lee, the former ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion.
'The Phenom' combines the trademark Lee fighting style and natural physical gifts, being the much larger man. But Cornejo says that doesn't matter, as he remains unfazed in the face of adversity.
He told MMA UK in a recent interview:
"To me, size never matters. It never matters to me. It's not the size of the dog, but it's the size of the fight. He is a little bit taller than me. But, you know, we're going to test it out."

Nico Cornejo has had a long and arduous journey in life that has led him to this point in his career. And as he gets ready to make his debut in the world's largest martial arts organization against a teenage phenom in Adrian Lee, the Colorado native says he will take nothing for granted.
Speaking to MMA UK, Cornejo shared his reaction upon receiving the fight offer to face Lee in ONE Championship.
The 34-year-old said:
"I was thrilled when my coach Jeff Santos called me up and he told me the news. You know, just looking back at the past four years that I put in training, a lot of the sacrifices that I put into this."
