Smilla Sundell not closing the door on a champ vs. champ clash with 'idol' Phetjeeja
Reigning and undisputed ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world champion 'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell is willing to face all challengers to her throne, including taking on the kickboxing champion one division down.
Many fans and observers often ask Sundell if she would be open to facing newly crowned undisputed ONE women's atomweight kickboxing world champion 'The Queen' Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom in a cross-division super fight. The 19-year-old Swedish sensation replied with a resounding yes, although she would prefer to fight someone her own size.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Sundell talked about facing 'The Queen' in a hypothetical multi-division matchup.
'The Hurricane' stated:
"Of course, I would like to fight Phetjeeja. But I think it will be better with people from a heavier weight class."
Standing at 5-foot-8-inches tall, Sundell is easily the tallest competitor at women's strawweight. In fact, her unbelievable size, matched with her catlike guile, makes her such a huge problem for her opponents.
But ONE Championship doesn't have a women's division higher than strawweight at the moment, so 'The Hurricane' remains open to competitors from atomweight to move up.
