Smilla Sundell says ONE 170 in Atlanta would be a perfect setting for her return: "I just want to fight in the U.S. next"

Combat sports fans love nothing more than to see a fighter bounce back from a setback and ONE Muay Thai star Smilla Sundell is ready to get back on her road to redemption.

'The Hurricane' is coming off a wondrous come-from-behind knockout victory against Natalia Diachkova at ONE Fight Night 22 this past May 3.

However, Sundell was stripped of her ONE strawweight Muay Thai world championship on the scales before the contest, after she came in 1.5 pounds over the 125-pound strawweight limit.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Smilla Sundell revealed when she would want to step back into the Circle again:

"Maybe, Atlanta actually, that would be something I prefer. I just want to fight in the U.S. next. That's all."

For those not yet in the know, ONE Championship will be having two events in the United States this year with ONE 168 happening inside the Ball Arena in Denver on September 6 while ONE 170 takes place in the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on November 8.

Sundell competing at ONE 170 makes great sense for her as the world's largest martial arts promotion is yet to reveal the bouts for it and it could be where she gets her shot at reclaiming her ONE world title.

Smilla Sundell admits to getting rocked by Natalia Diachkova

For the first time in her career, the Swedish phenom looked vulnerable after taking a ton of damage from 'Karelian Lynx' and Smilla Sundell admitted just that.

In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Sundell stated:

"I've seen all her fights at ONE Friday Fights, and she comes in very strong every time. I was expecting that, but I wasn't expecting how hard she hit. That shocked me."

Tickets for ONE 168 are currently available via Ticketmaster.
