Jones is reportedly set to face Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in November. The two were previously set to headline UFC 295 last November; however, the former was forced to withdraw after tearing the tendon that connects the pectoral muscle to the bone. The injury opened the door for Aspinall to claim the interim heavyweight title.
While 'Bones' had previously teased that his upcoming fight will mark his last trip to the octagon, he has suggested that he will revisit that thought after the bout. UFC CEO Dana White revealed that the interim heavyweight champion will have the opportuntiy to face the winner of the upcoming title bout.
