Stephen Loman can’t wait to see Jonathan Haggerty clash with Superlek: “Let’s see what will happen”
Filipino bantamweight MMA fighter Stephen Loman is excited to see the marquee showdown between top strikers Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek Kiatmoo9 next month in the United States. However, he is still divided on the outcome, as both fighters he believes have a solid shot at winning.
'The General' Haggerty will defend his bantamweight Muay Thai world title against flyweight kickboxing king Superlek in the headlining match at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, on Sept. 6. It will be the British champion's second straight title defense of his world title.
In an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Stephen Loman shared his thoughts on the Haggerty-Superlek superfight, underscoring the outcome is pretty much a toss-up.
He said:
"Haggerty's a fast striker, a fast boxer, and he has really dangerous front kicks. Superlek, meanwhile, can absorb those hits, and he has that forward pressure."
He added:
"Both are amazing fighters, let's see what will happen. Let's just wait and just watch this fight if there will be any surprises."
ONE 168 will be the second consecutive defense of Haggerty of the world title he won in April last year, following his TKO victory over Brazilian challenger Felipe Lobo in February.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.
Stephen Loman says teammate Danny Kingad working hard for return to action
Apart from the Haggerty-Superlek super-fight at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6, Stephen Loman is also looking forward to seeing his teammate Danny Kingad back in action in November. He said 'The King' is currently working hard in training to churn out a victory.
'The Sniper' shared this in the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, relaying how Kingad is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for his rematch against former ONE flyweight MMA world champion Adriano Moraes at ONE 169 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. on Nov. 8.
Kingad is focusing on his ground game, which Stephen Loman said they at Lions Nation MMA are collectively helping him with.
The bantamweight contender said:
"Right now, he's checking with his grappling because Adriano Moraes has a great BJJ game, so Danny's really working on his ground game, especially his back take. We're always drilling his back takes."
He added:
"Many of us help him like Jeremy [Pacatiw], Kuya Kevin [Belingon], Kuya Eduard [Folayang], we take turns helping him out. He also attends Kuya Gibran's [Langbayan] BJJ classes for the techniques on how to properly execute a back take, and everything else when it comes to the ground game and BJJ."
Kingad took on Moraes for the first time in November 2017, losing by submission in the opening round.
