Stephen Loman says Superlek is primed for bantamweight move: “He’s already in the perfect condition”
Stephen Loman knows that Thai superstar Superlek Kiatmoo9 would not have any problems in stepping up to the bantamweight division for his next crucial match at ONE 168: Denver.
ONE Championship will return to U.S. soil for the second time inside the Ball Arena, Denver, on Sept. 6, and there, Superlek will challenge Jonathan Haggerty's supremacy in his division.
Loman thinks that Superlek will be stronger when he rises to stake his claim on the bantamweight Muay Thai belt, as well as a two-division and two-sports ONE world champion status.
The Filipino fighter spoke to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview about how he thinks that it would be just another normal day for Superlek:
Stephen Loman said:
"If he goes up a division, it’s like that’s already his normal weight. He won’t be cutting weight anymore. He won’t cut weight, and that’s already in his normal weight to fight. So, it’s like he’s already in the perfect condition to fight at bantamweight."
He added:
"He won’t be cutting any weight, so I think he’ll be even stronger and be in better condition at bantamweight instead of his usual flyweight."
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are still available via Ticketmaster.
Jonathan Haggerty believes he will raise his hands over Superlek at ONE 168
Although he once lost to Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a fight outside of ONE, the two-sport ONE bantamweight world champion Jonathan Haggerty believes that he would gain an edge in his rematch.
Haggerty suffered that loss in 2018 via TKO due to the doctor's stoppage, but he knows that their conditions today are totally in opposite of that.
Now, 'The General' has found a new level in his game, as he told The Sporting News:
"I know what works for me and what doesn't. I'm a completely different fighter. I feel like he's stayed the same really — with just a traditional Muay Thai kind of style."
