“Still a long road ahead” - Angela Lee honored to share her story and struggles in “Unstoppable” biopic with Nainoa Langer

Angela Lee's exploits inside the cage have been well-documented, and the combat sports community has often dubbed her as one of the best female fighters ever. It's what happened behind the scenes that the general public doesn't know much about.

Lee, however, bravely shed light on the internal struggles she went through in a gripping biopic with cinematographer Nainoa Langer.

The pair collaborated on the short film titled Unstoppable under Layers Films, and the film was recently announced as part of the 2024 Maui Film Festival.

In an Instagram post, Lee wrote that the project helped in her healing process following the tragic death of her younger sister Victoria in December 2022.

Angela Lee posted:

"Through the creation of this project, I have experienced growth and healing ❤️‍🩹 There is still a long road ahead but I'm thankful to be able to express myself through various arts, which for me is my therapy."

She added:

"Thank you Nainoa for bringing these words to life. I am so very grateful to hear the news that our recent @layersfilms 'Unstoppable' has officially been selected to screen as part of the @mauifilmfest this year!"

Lee was the true personification of her nickname during her perfect world title reign in ONE Championship.

The Singaporean-American superstar became the inaugural ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion when she beat Mei Yamaguchi in May 2016.

She defended her throne five times against Jenny Huang, Istela Nunes, Yamaguchi, Xiong Jing Nan and Stamp Fairtex.

Lee ultimately relinquished her throne when she officially announced her retirement at ONE Fight Night 14 in September 2023.
