"Stuck in the first dimension" - "Complete" Jarred Brooks says Mansur Malachiev lacks the all-around skills to deal with him
ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks is not one bit impressed by Mansur Malachiev's win over Bokang Masunyane at ONE Fight Night 25.
That evening, the Dagestani sensation bounced back into the winner's column with a unanimous decision victory over the South African star via unanimous decision.
Immediately after the triumph, the Russian, who had climbed up three spots with the win to sit at No.2 in the rankings, turned his attention to the only man separating him from divisional king Joshua Pacio — 'The Monkey God'.
Though he likes the sound of it, the 31-year-old believes Malachiev is too far one-sided and lacks the necessary all-around capacity to tango with him. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Jarred Brooks shared:
"I am a complete martial artist, while he is stuck in the first dimension. I think I will be fresher with cleaner technique."
Whether or not the Mash Fight Team affiliate goes on to defend his interim crown against Malachiev depends on Pacio's return to action.
The Filipino warrior has been on the sidelines due to an aggravated ACL injury after his fight against Brooks at ONE 166: Qatar. In his absence, Brooks bagged the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title against Gustavo Balart at ONE Fight Night 24 in August.
Pacio is expected to return to competition in early 2025.
Lito Adiwang fully understands why Jarred Brooks wants to see off trilogy vs. Joshua Pacio
While he is excited to see Jarred Brooks and Mansur Malachiev collide, Lito Adiwang knows that the American star would love to tick off an inevitable rubber match with Pacio over anything else.
Backing up his point, 'Thunder Kid' told Sportskeeda MMA:
"It was a double loss for him [Brooks], because he lost the belt and he had a lot of negative comments thrown his way, saying he plays dirty. I understand why Jarred is mad, but that was going to be a hell of a fight if that incident didn't happen."
