"Super excited to show a different kind of style" - Jarred Brooks teases new skills ahead of ONE Fight Night 24 title tiff
Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and current first-ranked strawweight MMA contender 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States has promised to showcase a better, more-improved version of himself in his next fight.
Following a harrowing disqualification loss to Joshua Pacio last March at ONE 166: Qatar, where he lost the coveted golden belt after spiking his Filipino rival on the head, Brooks headed home to do some soul searching.
Now, the 31-year-old Warsaw, Indian native says he has identified the weaknesses in his game, and made the necessary adjustments in the gym to reach the next level.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Brooks says he is excited to show off new facets of his skill set.
'The Monkey God' said:
"I'm super excited to show a different kind of style of art and to make people understand that I adapt to every fighter that I fight, and I think that's why I'm so dangerous. I think that a lot of fighters don't do the things that I do. And I'll go work with the best Muay Thai guys in the world. I'll go work with the best jiu-jitsu guys. I'll go work with some of the best wrestlers, the best boxing coaches."
Needless to say, fans are excited to see Brooks back in action next week.
