Superbon says size advantage for Nico Carrillo could be dangerous for Superlek: “It’s going to challenge him”
ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion and current first-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Superbon of Thailand is worried for close friend and countryman 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Superlek recently made history when he knocked out the United Kingdom's 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty with a counter elbow in just 49 seconds of their ONE 168: Denver showdown earlier this month.
The victory made Superlek a rare two-division, two-sport titleholder, as he now holds both the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title and ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
However, Superbon believes Superlek may be at a size disadvantage at bantamweight, especially with guys like Nico Carrillo on the prowl.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Superbon shared his thoughts on the potential matchup between 'The Kicking Machine' and 'The King of the North'.
The Superbon Training Camp founder said:
"Nico Carrillo, is very big for Superlek. Even if Superlek has the advantage on skills, he is really very big for Superlek. They have a lot of good fighters in that weight class, so I think if Superlek can stay in that weight class for a long time, it’s going to challenge him more than anything."
Now that Superlek holds the bantamweight Muay Thai throne, there is no stopping the top contenders from trying to usurp him from his lofty perch, including Carrillo.
