Superbon wants to go to Bang Tao to train with Alexander Volkanovski
ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn is looking forward to getting some time in at Bang Tao in Phuket.
After his fight this Friday at ONE Fight Night 6, the defending world champion is hoping to take himself out of his comfort zone and train in some new locations. Having briefly mentioned going to America, Superbon spoke about a gym he is yet to explore that has been inviting him for sometime.
In an interview with SCMP MMA, the elite striker said:
“Yeah, after this maybe in America. I see Bang Tao has a big champion [Alexander Volkanovski] right now training right now, I’m gonna go and train with them. I saw Volkanovski here right now, right, in Phuket in Bang Tao. And they always say to, ‘Come to Bang Tao train with me, train with me,’ the owner. I think it should be fun for me.”

Bang Tao has quickly become one of the most desirable gyms in the world to train at. Situated right next to the beach, world class fighters have flocked to their mats to get a taste of paradise whilst improving their skills.
UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has been a consistent vitotor at the gym since its opening. If Superbon is able to link up with the pound-for-pound number one fighter in the UFC, it’s fair to say that thousands would buy a ticket and gather just to watch the two men in sparring.
Superbon Singha Mawynn humbly says he’s not the P4P best kickboxer in the world
ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon Singha Mawynn has been given the title of the No. 1 pound-for-pound kickboxer in the world. Despite being grateful for this praise, he believes he still has a lot to accomplish before he can take that mantle.
After scoring massively-impressive wins over Giorgio Petrosyan and Marat Grigorian in back-to-back fights, Superbon has become a huge name in the sport. At ONE Fight Night 6, he will look to continue his run by facing another huge name in Chingiz Allazov.
As the No.1-ranked contender and winner of the featherweight Grand Prix, Allazov is another huge threat to the champion’s crown. Ahead of their long-awaited world title clash, Superbon spoke with ONE Championship to share his thoughts on being dubbed the pound-for-pound best in the world:
“I’m very honored and happy that people think of me like that. However, for me, I still think that there’s a lot of other strikers who are above me or who I have to fight before I can fully say that I accept this title.”
Though he may not be ready to buy into his own hype, the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, will undoubtedly give him the kind of support befitting of the pound-for-pound best fighter in the sport.
ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video will air live and for free in North America on Amazon Prime Video with an active subscription.
