Superlek grateful that American fans are now embracing Thai fighters: "It's amazing to see such passion"
American fans certainly appreciate athletes at the top of their games, which is why they took an immediate liking to ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.
'The Kicking Machine' is admittedly in awe of the support that Thai fighters in general have been receiving from fans all over the world, especially on US soil.
Speaking in a ONE Championship interview, the 28-year-old expressed how grateful he is that his countrymen are finally getting the global recognition they deserve:
"I was amazed by the crowd cheering for the Thai athletes. It's amazing to see such passion in a foreign land. I love seeing the excitement and the energy in the stadium."
Thai athletes' growing popularity in the US was clearly evident in the promotion's US debut at ONE Fight Night 10 last year, where Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Stamp Fairtex received the loudest of ovations.
Superlek's stock, on the other hand, has also skyrocketed following his flawless performances in the world's largest martial arts organization.
His massive win over fan-favorite Rodtang in the 'Muay Thai Fight of The Century' certainly made him a crowd darling.
Meanwhile, American fans can finally witness Superlek's greatness in the flesh at ONE 168: Denver on September 6. He'll challenge Jonathan Haggerty for the bantamweight Muay Thai throne in the main event of the historic card at Ball Arena.
Rodtang says fans shouldn't blink in Jonathan Haggerty vs Superlek mega-clash
While Rodtang has experience fighting both Superlek and Jonathan Haggerty, he also can't help but look forward to this epic slugfest.
After all, 'The Iron Man' knows the stakes will be at an all-time high for this one, and both warriors will leave it all on the line.
The reigning flyweight Muay Thai world champion told Sportskeeda MMA:
"I'm thrilled that this fight is happening. It's a match that you definitely cannot blink or you will miss it - a knockout can happen at any second."
