Superlek opens up about his unique relationship with sports science coach: "He was a fan"

Superlek Kiatmoo9 agrees that sometimes the strongest connections come from the strangest places.

The reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion is always gracious to interact with his loyal fans. Little did he know that he'd encounter one of the most important coaches for his camp in one of these meetings.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Superlek recalled how his relationship with a sports scientist named Hook began.

'The Kicking Machine' narrated:

"Yes, he was a fan. We met last year and he got selfies and autographs, of course. It's great to have someone who's into the sport itself to be part of the team. I'm happy that he joined. I believe we bond over our goals and passion for Muay Thai."

Nowadays, the pair are often seen side by side since Hook is pretty much with Superlek 24/7. He added:

"We basically live together at the gym, so he is still getting lots of pictures with me."

If there's any criticism of Superlek, it's certainly not his skills but his inability to make weight in the past.

After taking a more analytical approach to his nutrition and conditioning, the 28-year-old has certainly been more lethal than ever and has left those concerns behind him.

Superlek pulling out all the stops in bantamweight debut vs. Jonathan Haggerty

After claiming and defending 26 pounds of gold in kickboxing, it's time for Superlek Kiatmoo9 to vie for a world title in 'The Art of Eight Limbs'.

'The Kicking Machine' will move up a weight class to challenge Jonathan Haggerty for the 145-pound Muay Thai world title in the curtain closer of ONE 168: Denver.

Skills-wise, we know the sensational Superlek has what it takes for two-division and two-sport supremacy, granted he already bested 'The General' in battle before.

Looks like the Thai striker is also taking a page out of Haggerty's book and relying on sports science to aid his move to a higher division.
