Superlek prepped for five-round war with Jonathan Haggerty ‘just in case’ they don’t knock each other out
Superlek is ready to go a full five rounds with Jonathan Haggerty this Friday night.
Emanating from Ball Arena in The Mile High City, ONE 168: Denver will see Haggerty return to the Circle to put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line against 'The Kicking Machine' in one of the biggest main events in promotional history.
Superlek, who steps up from his post as the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion to challenge for Haggerty's bantamweight belt, believes he'll be packing more power by the time the two pound-for-pound greats step inside the Circle.
"I feel like I'm moving up, maybe I have more power now, and maybe I could finish early. Well, who knows? No one knows, but I have prepared myself for five rounds just in case."
With 10 straight victories and an unbeaten record in Muay Thai competition under the ONE banner, 'The Kicking Machine' is primed to bring a second belt home to Thailand. Of course, that'll be easier said than done when he meets one of the hottest fighters in all of combat sports today.
Jonathan Haggerty looks to add another highlight-reel finish to his resume against Superlek
When Jonathan Haggerty was a fixture in the flyweight division, he was great. But since he moved to bantamweight, 'The General' has looked practically unbeatable, starting with his win over Russian standout Vladimir Kuzmin.
He has since followed that up with three incredible KOs against former ONE world champion Nong-O Hama, current ONE bantamweight MMA world titleholder Fabricio Andrade, and the 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo.
Along the way, Haggerty has captured both the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing titles. Will he remain a two-sport king this Friday in The Centennial State, or will Superlek etch his name in the history books and add another 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold to his resume?
ONE 168: Denver will air live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime in both the United States and Canada on Friday, September 6. Follow this link for tickets to attend the event live at Ball Arena.
