Superlek reveals who he'd prefer to face between Nico Carrillo and Nabil Anane in world title unification war at ONE 172
'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 has produced one of the most impressive winning streaks that ONE Championship has ever seen.
The two-sport and two-division ONE world champion was looking to extend this at a huge card to help kick 2025 into motion.
At ONE 170, the elite Thai striker was set to face the most dangerous contender in the bantamweight Muay Thai division.
His bout with No.2 -ranked Nico Carrillo at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, on Jan. 24 unfortunately fell through the cracks after the champ suffered an injury which forced him out of the fight.
Instead, Carrillo will stay on the card to take on Nabil Anane in an interim title fight with the winner going on to face Superlek in the near future.
The champ will be watching closely from the sidelines and in a recent interview with ONE Championship, he gave his thoughts on the matchup.
Having already faced and beaten Nabil Anane in the past, it wasn't surprising to hear him say that the more exciting challenge is the top contender in the division:
"Personally, I'm ready to fight either Nabil or Nico. But if I had to choose one, I'd pick Nico."
Superlek might pick up something important from this fight
Superlek might be able to profit from the interim title fight at ONE 170 despite the fact that he is disappointed to not be competing.
Nico Carrillo has been able to overcome every test that has been put in front of him during his time in ONE Championship.
Even if he does come through his clash with Nabil Anane, the two rising stars might end up feeding information back to the world champion about their games.
'The Kicking Machine' will have his eyes on both men, and whoever comes through the contest, he will be ready to face them in a huge title unification clash that is tentatively set for ONE 172 inside the Saitama Super Arena on March 23.
