Superlek says Denver’s altitude didn’t take him by surprise: “The team had already prepared everything”
Superlek wasn't affected by the infamous Denver altitude at ONE 168.
On September 6, Superlek had a massive opportunity to further his legacy in ONE Championship. The reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion challenged Jonathan Haggerty for his bantamweight Muay Thai world title in the promotion's highly-anticipated return to North America.
Fans and analysts expected a war between Superlek and Haggerty in the ONE 168: Denver main event. Instead, 'The Kicking Machine' showcased a masterclass performance by knocking out Haggerty with a vicious elbow in 49 seconds.
During an interview with Yokkao, Superlek was asked about the infamous Denver altitude that has plagued many fighters in the past. He responded by saying:
"I knew that if I was tired from the new climate, I'd be coughing and having a sore throat. So the team had already prepared everything I needed when I was there."
ONE 168: Denver featured Jonathan Haggerty vs. Superlek, Liam Harrison vs. Seksan, Aung La N Sang vs. Shamil Erdogan, John Lineker vs. Asa Ten Power, and more. North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can rewatch the entire event.

Superlek has two must-see rematches on the horizon
Superlek has many options for his next fight after becoming a two-sport world champion. With that said, the ONE Championship community has called for two must-see rematches in the near future - Rodtang and Takeru Segawa.
Firstly, Superlek was supposed to challenge Rodtang for his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title in September 2023. 'The Kicking Machine' was ineligible for the strap because he missed weight but still made a massive statement by securing a highly entertaining unanimous decision win.
In January, Superlek stepped in on short notice to face Takeru Segawa in a kickboxing bout. The Thai superstar put his ONE flyweight world title on the line and successfully defended his throne with a unanimous decision win in the latter's home country of Japan.
It's unclear what's next for Superlek in ONE Championship. Regardless of who he faces, fans will be ready to see the 28-year-old potentially extend his win streak.
