Superlek says there’s no special sauce to beating Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: “There's no secret”

Superlek Kiatmoo9 doesn't believe there's any kind of hidden trick or secret to beating two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty.

After years of dominating their respective divisions, two of the best pound-for-pound strikers in the world will collide as Haggerty puts his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line against 'The Kicking Machine' at ONE 168: Denver on September 6.

With months to study and prepare for perhaps his toughest test to date, Superlek has concluded that there are no holes in Haggerty's game — nothing for him to exploit or take advantage of when the two scrap on martial arts' biggest global stage.

So instead of focusing on some kind of elaborate strategy or complex game plan, 'The Kicking Machine' is going to rely on his determination and the hard work he's put in at the gym to help him get the job done:

"There's no secret strategy or tactic to beat Haggerty, I just have to train hard," he told Yokkao.

Sitting on a 10-fight unbeaten streak, it appears as though that strategy has worked well for 'The Kicking Machine' thus far. The question is, will it continue to work against one of the most powerful strikers in the art of eight limbs?

Superlek vs. Jonathan Haggerty looks all set to be a striking clinic

While Superlek has looked practically unbeatable in recent years, the same could be said for Jonathan Haggerty —especially since his move to bantamweight.

After a successful test run against Vladimir Kuzmin in late 2022, Haggerty shook the Muay Thai world to its core in April 2023 with a shocking first-round knockout against Nong-O Hama to claim the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.

Seven months later, he followed that up with a big KO victory against current ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade to pick up the vacant bantamweight kickboxing crown.

After already securing a successful Muay Thai title defense against Felipe Lobo, in which he landed another epic finish, Haggerty is determined to extend his unbeaten streak to seven and take his spot atop the pound-for-pound rankings with a decisive win over Superlek in 'The Centennial State'.

ONE 168: Denver will air live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime in both the United States and Canada on Friday, September 6. Follow this link for tickets to attend the event live at Ball Arena.
