T.J. Dillashaw shares two-word response after fan asks why he kneed Chris Holdsworth

T.J. Dillashaw has always been sensitive to the Chris Holdsworth story and 10 years later, he is still upset when asked about it. One fan found that out the hard way on social media.

Dillashaw still has the controversial topic brought up to him and had a fan ask him about it on Sept. 12. The fan commented beneath his latest Instagram post, asking him why he "kneed Chris Holdsworth," causing the former two-time bantamweight champion to snap back.

The question extends back a decade when Holdsworth, then a promising young talent, suffered an injury in training with Team Alpha Male. Urijah Faber and Cody Garbrandt claimed that he was hurt by Dillashaw, who kneed him in the head, but the then-champion denied the claim.

Three years after the incident, Holdsworth went on The MMA Hour and confirmed the rumors, saying Dillashaw kneed him on the top of the head during wrestling practice. The hit gave him a concussion and functionally ended his career as he has not fought since.

What is Chris Holdsworth doing now after the T.J. Dillashaw incident?

Chris Holdsworth has not officially announced his retirement from MMA but has not fought since 2014 after taking a break from the sport due to a concussion. In 2024, Holdsworth is now 36 and has seemingly transitioned to coaching full-time.

Holdsworth is one of the top assistant coaches at Team Alpha Male and is often seen in the corner of UFC events for some of the gym's leading fighters including Josh Emmett, Maycee Barber and Song Yadong.

Up until his last fight, Holdsworth ended his career with a 6-0 record and was the winner of the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter. He is often brought up as one of the best examples of a career cut short by injuries in MMA, especially considering the circumstances in which he suffered his concussion.
