Takeru dreaming of Superlek rematch in Thailand, but says focus is strictly on Thant Zin now: “I need to win first”
Takeru Segawa hasn't lost his desire to avenge his defeat against Superlek.
In January, Takeru made his highly anticipated ONE Championship debut in the ONE 165 main event, which took place in his home country of Japan. The former seven-time K-1 world champion looked to make an immediate impact as he challenged the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek.
Takeru and Superlek went toe-to-toe in a five-round instant-classic war. Once the dust settled, 'The Kicking Machine' emerged victorious by unanimous, retaining his world title and leaving 'The Natural Born Crusher' disappointed.
Later this week, Takeru will make his second promotional appearance at ONE Friday Fights 81 against Thant Zin. The Japanese kickboxing superstar is focused on his upcoming fight, but he hasn't forgotten about Superlek, which he explained by saying this during an interview with the South China Morning Post:
"I think it can be held anywhere. Last time, it was held in my home country, so next time, it would be good if we can fight in Thailand. But before we talk about any of this, I need to win first in order to get back into that position. So I’ll focus on Friday first."
Takeru vs. Thant Zin will take place inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium during ONE Friday Fights 81. Friday's event, headlined by Superbon vs. Jo Nattawut, can be seen via pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com.

Superlek isn't the only super-fight that Takeru is keeping an eye on
Takeru Segawa wants a rematch with Superlek for two reasons - to avenge his defeat and become the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion. With that said, 'The Natural Born Crusher' is eyeing another super-fight in the near future.
Takeru was initially scheduled to fight Rodtang in a non-title flyweight kickboxing bout. Unfortunately, 'The Iron Man' pulled out with an injury, leading to Superlek stepping in on short notice to save the main event.
Following ONE Friday Fights 81, Rodtang could be the next opponent for Takeru, especially considering both fighters want the matchup. Firstly, the Japanese superstar must get through the 19-year-old Thant Zin.
