Takeru Segawa studied Thant Zin extensively to overcome Burmese phenom: “I learned how he fights”

Japanese megastar Takeru Segawa is a man of preparation, and he always does it to perfection.

Ahead of his sophomore appearance in ONE Championship at ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut, Takeru made the most of his time during the fight week to polish his game plan for this crucial fight against Burmese fighter Thant Zin.

In his recent Instagram post, the 33-year-old stated he's slowly acclimating to Bangkok's heat, as he tries hard to maintain his weight and hydration levels to officiate his flyweight kickboxing clash.

Takeru also did a good job of studying Zin's game, as he expressed in the virtual press conference ahead of ONE Friday Fights 81 on Sept. 27.

He said this about his new foe:

"Since I know that my opponent is going to change from Black Panther to Thant Zin, I've watched his videos. I learned how he fights. I know that he's very aggressive with lots of power, but I will be able to make a strategy to cope with that."

After fully recovering from his leg injuries, Takeru Segawa is hellbent on taking Zin down and restarting his surge for another world title challenge.

In an interview with ONE ahead of his return at ONE Friday Fights 81 against Thant Zin, 'The Natural Born Crusher' shared his goal of becoming the best striker on the planet, and how fighting in the promotion helps him to do so:

"The ideal is to prove I'm the strongest in the world. That's the goal. That's why I came to ONE. I want to achieve that and then retire."
