“Taking notes from Superlek” - Fans cook up their dream fights for Japanese superstar Takeru’s highly anticipated comeback
Fans are looking forward to see Takeru Segawa back in action in ONE Championship after coming up with a noteworthy performance in his promotional debut earlier this year. Some have taken to social media to express their preference on who 'The Natural Born Crusher' should take on next.
The 32-year-old Japanese superstar made his ONE debut in January this year, challenging flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the belt. While he fell by the wayside, losing by unanimous decision, still he put up a gallant stand throughout the five-round battle that the fans appreciated.
ONE Championship recently posted a video of Takeru hard in training on its official Instagram page as he awaits for his next match, whetting the appetite of the fans, who could not help but cook up dream matches for the former K-1 champion.
Some want him to run it back with Superlek, with one saying:
There were others who want him him against Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon and other hard-hitters like Jonathan Di Bella, Joseph Lasiri, Danial Williams and Tagir Kalilov.

Takeru was initially penciled in to take on Rodtang in a super fight in his promotional debut until 'The Iron Man' had to withdraw because of injury. In came Superlek, in a restructured title clash.
The Japanese fighter is expected to plunge back into action in a ONE Friday Fights event in September.
Takeru wants to surpass whatever Rodtang has achieved in ONE Championship
Upon his joining ONE Championship last year, Takeru Segawa made it known that he wanted to continue the success he had achieved in his career in his new home, including surpassing the impressive feats of Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
The former K-1 multiple champion said he was excited to compete in ONE and take on the world's top fighters, like Rodtang, whom he highly regards and whose accomplishments he wants to overtake at some point.
He told the promotion in an interview:
"I acknowledge and respect Rodtang, so I want to surpass him."
The two were supposed to fight in Takeru's ONE debut in January, but Rodtang withdrew due to injury.
But the promotion said it is determined to have them battle it out and is studying the best time to have it.
