WWE News: Taz says Baron Corbin will kill Conor McGregor

Baron Corbin holds a significant size advantage over Conor McGregor.

What’s the story?

Pro-wrestling veteran Taz feels that Baron Corbin would put Conor McGregor in the hospital if a fight between Corbin and McGregor were to ever transpire.

Speaking to TMZ, the ECW legend opined that McGregor is “very tiny” and Corbin would have a tremendous size advantage over the Irish MMA Superstar.

In case you didn’t know...

Baron Corbin is a former amateur boxer and football player with a Golden Gloves Championship to his name. ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is a former UFC Featherweight champion and the current UFC Lightweight champion, considered by many as one of this generation’s top pound-for-pound MMA fighters.

Corbin and McGregor are no strangers to one another, in fact, Baron has called out the Irishman in the past, stating that he’d like to slam Conor on his head a few times. This was in response to the scathing verbal attacks that Mcgregor had launched toward pro-wrestlers and the WWE Superstars in particular last year.

The heart of the matter:

Here’s what Taz had to say about a potential Corbin vs McGregor fight:

“Conor McGregor would be put to the hospital. Baron Corbin is bad man.

He’s also younger, more aggressive and 5-times the size of Conor McGregor. That’s a lot of size. The dude’s like 6’6”, 6’7”. He’s a big man and he’s put together. He’s a young, angry guy.”

Tazz clarified that in no way does he mean to disrespect McGregor or his accomplishments, nor does he doubt the ‘Notorious’ Irishman’s credibility. However, he emphasised the fact that Conor is physically small and would be severely undersized against the bigger and heavier Corbin.

Taz was quoted as saying:

“No disrespect to Conor McGregor- he’s a badass MMA guy. McGregor needs to be in WWE but the problem is he’s a really small guy… he is very tiny!”

Here’s the video of the interview:

Tazz also spoke about the Big Show vs Shaquille O’Neal Mania matchup being scrapped, stating that if the matchup were to really happen at WrestleMania 33, the WWE would have promoted it beforehand.

What’s next?

Baron Corbin challenges Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd at The Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor is rumoured to be facing legendary pugilist Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing matchup that’s being targeted for June or September of 2017.

Author’s take:

Conor McGregor is a legitimately skilled fighter and one of the best in MMA today.

However, Corbin is no slouch either as is evidenced by his martial arts and athletic credentials namely his Golden Glove Championships and football experience. Let’s face it, Corbin stands over 6’6” and weighs about 280 pounds.

In an unscripted shoot-fight, the former Golden Gloves boxing champion would easily overpower the smaller McGregor.

And mind you, it’s not that long ago (UFC 196) that McGregor was rocked and submitted by Nate Diaz - a guy who Conor claimed was 3-times bigger than him. If you consider that, it’s safe to assume that ‘Notorious’ won’t sign up to face a guy who’s half a foot taller than Diaz and just like the Stocktonian has a martial arts background of boxing.
