Terence Crawford explains turning down two-fight deal with Conor McGregor despite previous claim about MMA bout

Terence Crawford recently explained declining a two-fight deal with Conor McGregor, saying he didn't think he would have much of a chance against the UFC superstar. This came after McGregor's claim about a boxing and MMA contest between him and Crawford was discussed in the past.

For context, in response to a fan's question regarding boxing on his recent Duelbits livestream, McGregor stated that he was in talks about a two-fight agreement with Crawford. The Irishman added that the negotiations were aimed at one fight in both boxing and MMA, however, the 37-year-old declined.

Crawford was asked if McGregor's comments were true in a recent interview with Bernie Tha Boxer. In response, 'Bud' stated that he declined the offer because he didn't fancy his chances of competing in MMA against 'The Notorious'.

''I told Conor [McGregor], ‘Hell no’. They called me and they offered me the fight and me and Conor got on the phone and started trying to figure something out. And I told him, ‘Man I ain’t getting into no octagon with you so you can be kicking me and elbow me and sh*t.’ He started laughing and sh*t and he said ‘Man, I respect it. ‘You respect my sport just like I respect your sport and you understand that if you get in an octagon you’re going to be at a disadvantage.''

Crawford's decision came as a surprise, as notably in his interview with TMZSports three years ago, the four-division champion expressed his desire to face McGregor in MMA.

''They was talking about and I just entertained it...money talk, they put that money off, hell yeah I'll go over there and find them...I do believe, I can get him out of there.''

Ryan Garcia hints at a potential fight with Terence Crawford

Despite being banned after testing positive for Ostarine in his fight with David Haney earlier this year, Ryan Garcia took a dig at Terence Crawford, calling him out for a potential fight. During a recent social media live, Garcia blasted Crawford, saying:

''I would love to fight 'Bud' Crawford. I don’t think he’s as good as people say he is. I say this publicly, and I say it on live right now. If Bud is listening, I would love to fight you. I feel I would literally beat the sh*t out of you.”
