Terence Crawford sends Conor McGregor social media message amid rumors of a two-fight deal
It turns out that Terence Crawford might not have ruled out the potential fight against UFC megastar Conor McGregor. Recently, Crawford had revealed that Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, approached him and McGregor with a two-fight offer in boxing and MMA. However, 'Bud' claimed to have refused it.
While the chances of a high-profile fight between the two seemed low, Crawford's recent social media video suggests otherwise. In the video, which was recorded during a wrestling session in the gym, Crawford sent a message to McGregor:
"We're here working. We're getting back on the mat. Hey, Conor, get back on the mat. Stay tuned baby. Stay tuned."
Boxing journalist Michael Benson re-posted Crawford's video on X.

Crawford's comments in the video imply that he might be interested in fighting McGregor under MMA rules. However, he had previously revealed the reason for refusing to fight 'The Notorious', saying:
"They called me and they offered me the fight. Me and Conor got on the phone and we start politicking, trying to figure something out, and I just told him, 'I'm not getting in no f***ing octagon with you so you can be kicking me and elbowing me and sh**!" [H/T MMA Fighting]
In a separate interview, McGregor claimed that the fighters would have been potentially paid "hundreds of millions" if they agreed to the crossover fight offer.
While a fight between Crawford and McGregor is intriguing, both men are on different career trajectories. Crawford recently captured the WBA and the vacant WBO interim super welterweight titles to become a four-division boxing champion. Meanwhile, McGregor has been on the sidelines for nearly three years since suffering a leg break in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.
The Irishman was expected to return to competition against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June. However, he was forced to pull out due to a toe injury. The revised date of his return has not been announced yet.
