"That's why he's being KO'd unconscious, because of the amount of weight he cuts" - UFC fighter makes bizarre claim on Aljamain Sterling's weight cuts

UFC bantamweight Marlon Vera claims that Aljamain Sterling is more susceptible to getting knocked out because of the insane amount of weight he cuts before fights to make the divisional limit.

During a recent episode of Michael Bisping's Believe You Me podcast, 'Chito' opined that he is a natural 135lbs fighter as opposed to the bantamweight champion who he claims walks around at 180lbs outside of fight camps.

Giving his take on 'Funk Master's' plans to move up to 145lbs, Vera stated:

"I think he is too big to make the weight class. Cutting that much weight is cheating to me. You are kind of like a pu**y if you cut that much weight... He really doesn't hurt nobody but he makes you carry his weight take you down. Like I'm 155 pounds in or out of camp. I feel like a natural 135 pounder and I'm still thinking I've got to cut a sh*t load of weight because 20 pounds is a lot."

Vera then spoke about Sterling's walk-around weight and how he feels the drastic weight cut leaves the champion with a compromised chin:

"That motherf****r weighs like 170 [to] 180 pounds when he is eating f*****g god knows what... That's why he is getting KO'd unconscious because of the amount of weight he cuts... like if you touch him he might go down."

Sterling is known to regain a sizable amount of weight mere days after his fights. He famously bounced up to 176lbs just a week after his UFC 273 bantamweight title clash with Petr Yan.

Aljamain Sterling details why he thinks he'll peak at 145lbs

During an interview with BT Sports at the UFC 280 weigh-ins, bantamweight kingpin Aljamain Sterling explained why he thinks he'll peak at featherweight.

'Funk Master' said that he feels the weight cut to 135lbs is adversely affecting his cardio. The American added that he needs to move up in weight to achieve "optimal performance":

"I'm starting to feel like that [I peak at 145lbs]. Honestly, I'm looking at Petr Yan today and even our last two fights and I'm like the guy looks like he cuts no weight, he fights at an optimal performance... I do seem to slow down just a little bit in the later rounds... maybe it has something to do with how much weight I'm cutting the final day before stepping on the scale."
