"That is a thing Stipe Miocic cannot do" - Daniel Cormier points out major chink in former rival's armor that Jon Jones can easily exploit

Daniel Cormier recently shared his analysis of the upcoming heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Citing his past experience with Miocic, Cormier talked about a significant weakness in the 42-year-old's game that Jones might take advantage of.

Jones and Miocic were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 295 last year, but the former was forced to withdraw due to a pectoral muscle injury. 'Bones' is now fully recovered and will finally make his much-awaited octagon return in the main event of UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 16.

In a recent video posted on ESPN MMA's YouTube channel, Cormier, who has already shared the octagon with Jones and Miocic, discussed the matchup with fellow UFC commentator Jon Anik. The UFC Hall of Famer explained how he secured a knockout win against the challenger during their first encounter at UFC 226, emphasizing that the clinch exchanges between Jones and Miocic will be a key factor in their fight's outcome.

Notably, while in the clinch with Miocic at UFC 226, Cormier took advantage of the latter's low left hand and knocked him out in the opening round with a hard right. He feels Jones can be successful in similar scenarios this Saturday. 'DC' said:

''As Stipe and I would come together, I was finding a lot of success landing punches whenever he would exit [the clinch]. Because when he exits, he tends to leave his left hand low... He was trying to control my overhand... But [I] wrapped that punch around [Miocic's] low, straight arm.''

Cormier added:

''That is a thing Stipe Miocic cannot do in this fight with Jon Jones, because while Jones may not land a punch that can hurt him in that way, there are different weapons he could use -- elbows, spinning back elbows, all of those creative weapons that could be a problem."

Stipe Miocic apologizes to Jon Jones for his harsh remark

In the 'UFC 309 Countdown' episode ahead of the heavyweight title fight, Stipe Miocic made some disrespectful comments about Jon Jones, which didn't sit well with the reigning champion. In response, Jones took to X and chastised Miocic for his remarks.

In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Miocic addressed the situation, claiming that he did not intend it and that it was all in the heat of the moment.

"Oh yeah. He was just talking to me and I was talking to him. Bring it on. I don't know. I didn't try to hurt his feelings. I mean, I was just fired up... I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to disrespect him in any way. It was just the moment, the heat of the moment. I mean, sorry. I don't know."
