Former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and current first-ranked contender 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks of the United States is beaming with confidence heading into his world title clash against Cuba's 'El Gladiador' Gustavo Balart.
Brooks is set to lock horns with Balart in early August for the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title, and the 31-year-old Warsaw, Indiana native says his training camp has been going swimmingly.
Speaking to the South China Morning Post in a recent interview, Brooks gave an update on his training and conditioning, and what fans can expect in his next fight.
'The Monkey God' said:
"It's been going great. The camp has been going silky smooth. I've got to train with some of the best of the best that Michigan has to offer. And yeah, man, I'm just super excited to showcase a new and different kind of style that I'm used to showing."

'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks dedicates next fight to young daughter: "It’s all about Naomi"
One thing has changed in Jarred Brooks since the last time he was in the cage. The 31-year-old has recently become a father, and the former trash-talking American is now fighting for something greater than himself.
As such, 'The Monkey God' wants to do right by his daughter, Naomi, each time he steps onto the battlefield.
He told Sportskeeda MMA:
"Yes, 100 percent. It’s all about Naomi. It’s not about Jarred Brooks. It’s all about my daughter at this point. I’m like a shell of myself to make sure she has enough life to keep on dreaming and growing."
