“The champion has to be ready” - Superlek down for Nico Carrillo fight if he claims bantamweight gold in Denver
Superlek Kiatmoo9 is more than happy to give top-ranked contender Nico Carrillo his first shot at ONE Championship gold — assuming he comes out on top in his quest to become a two-sport world champion.
On Friday, September 6, the promotion will make its long-awaited return to the United States for a history-making night of fights with ONE 168 in 'The Mile High City' of Denver, Colorado.
There, Superlek, the current ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, will move up a weight class to challenge reigning two-sport titleholder Jonathan Haggerty for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai crown.
'The Kicking Machine' is by no means looking past the task at hand, but should he come out on top against Haggerty, he already has his first challenger picked out:
"Of course, Nico Carrillo, I’d want to fight him because, you know, if I become the champion, I know everyone will want the belt, and the champion has to be ready to fight everyone," the Thai told Sportskeeda MMA in a recent interview.

Superlek will have to get through Kongthoranee at ONE Friday Fights 68 ahead of Haggerty fight
Even before the Kiatmoo9 Gym affiliate can put all of his focus on Jonathan Haggerty and their highly anticipated showdown at ONE 168, 'The Kicking Machine' will have to get through one of the promotion's most exciting prospects.
Stepping back into the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium this Friday, June 28, Superlek will square off with streaking standout Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Friday Fights 68, airing live on pay-per-view.
Kongthoranee is an impressive 8-1 inside the circle since making his ONE debut in February 2023. As it stands, he holds three highlight-reel knockouts and is sitting on a seven-fight win streak.
If he can score what would be one of the biggest upsets in ONE history, Kongthoranee would immediately thrust himself to the top of the flyweight Muay Thai rankings.
ONE Championship will present ONE Friday Fights 68 live from Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, June 28.
