"The fight will end in submission" - Mayssa Bastos seeking the most definitive way to dethrone Danielle Kelly
Mayssa Bastos is looking to secure her first submission win under the ONE Championship banner next time out.
The Brazilian competitor is one of the most successful athletes in female grappling and has secured nearly every accolade possible in her weight class.
One of the only boxes left for her to check off is becoming a world champion in ONE's submission grappling divisions.
After opening her account with a decision win over Kanae Yamada earlier this year at ONE Fight Night 20, she is set for big things.
In the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 24, ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly will put her title on the line for the first time against Bastos.
The challenger spoke in a recent interview with ONE Championship about how she is looking to secure the tap at Lumpinee Stadium on August 2:
"I think the fight will end in submission - at least that will be my goal from start to finish. I don't know where the submission will come from, but I give you the certainty of seeking control of the fight until the submission."
Mayssa Bastos has the potential to shake up the division
The introduction of a world-class and decorated competitor like Mayssa Bastos into the atomweight division was always going to shake things up.
She has won the top prize where she has competed and that makes her a serious threat to Danielle Kelly and her world championship.
Kelly, who is no stranger to being the underdog, will have her work cut out for her if she is to keep both hands on the gold come August 2.
Bastos, on the other hand, is looking to pull off a snatch-and-grab attempt when she enters Bangkok for her second appearance.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
