The nurse would risk losing medical license if involved in Islam Makhachev IV infusion, says Chael Sonnen
Chael Sonnen recently warned that any nurse who administered Islam Makhachev IV infusions could lose their medical license.
Alexander Volkanovski's teammate Dan Hooker has sparked controversy on Twitter by accusing UFC fighter Islam Makhachev of cheating at UFC 284. Hooker claimed that Makhachev had privately hired a medical professional to administer IV fluids, a practice which is banned by the UFC and can lead to suspension. Makhachev's team has denied the accusations, but the issue has not been resolved. The MMA community is now awaiting an official statement from the UFC regarding the matter.
Giving his take on the matter, Sonnen stated that, in the US, such an action would be a violation of HIPAA regulations and be “beyond inappropriate”. He added that he believes the same would likely be true in Australia.
Appearing in a recent video on his YouTube channel, 'The Bad Guy' had this to say:
"If we had a medical professional, in this case a nurse, who was coming out and saying, I did it, and I will sign here under sworn oath testimony, in America, we take their license away quickly. That would be a HIPAA violation. That would be beyond inappropriate if a nurse did that. In Australia, I don't know, I would probably think the same thing... [but] it's a lot to believe, a lot to accept. "

Chael Sonnen is not satisfied with the judges' scorecards for Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284
UFC veteran Chael Sonnen is not happy with the judges' decision to award Islam Makhachev a victory over Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 284.
Chael Sonnen gave a bizarre reason why he believes the judges should have scored in Alexander Volkanovski's favor at UFC 284. Sonnen argued that it is industry standard to give the decision to hometown fighters who have the crowd and momentum going for them. He believes this is the case for Volkanovski and argued that the judges should have given him the decision.
Appearing in another video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen had this to say:
"What I begrudge is the lack of courage that [the judges] showed by giving Islam [Makhachev] the fight, and not doing what we have an industry standard of doing in giving [the decision] to the hometown guy. The hometown guy who was undersized, the only one who had any interest in there tonight, who had the crowd and momentum going so the world's gonna understand it. You give it to the [hometown] guy. That is what the standard of our industry says."
