"The path to the world title is wide open" - Danny Kingad says vacant flyweight gold is there for the taking "for those who dare"

Danny Kingad sees an opportunity for the game and ranked contenders to mark their way to the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title in light of Demetrious Johnson's decision to call time on his illustrious career at ONE 168: Denver.

But before the rest of the chasing pack make a case for themselves, the No.3-ranked divisional contender hopes to beat them in that race when he takes on former divisional king and top-ranked Adriano Moraes at ONE 169 inside the Lumpinee Stadium on Nov. 8.

Ahead of his rematch with the Brazilian in Bangkok, Thailand, Danny Kingad sat down with Sportskeeda MMA to discuss the direction of the flyweight crown. The 29-year-old shared:

"This is a really good time to take the torch from him. Especially now that DJ has retired, I think the path to the world title is wide open for those who dare to take it. I will do my best to be the guy in the flyweight division."

Of course, his road to the 26 pounds of gold will be easier said than done. Kingad has another tough night in the office against Moraes, who is out to end his run of defeats and book a ticket to the gold he once owned inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai' next month.

However, should Danny Kingad steer his way to a memorable win, he might just position himself as a favorite to vie for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world championship.

Lito Adiwang says Danny Kingad's appetite for a victory will propel him over Adriano Moraes at ONE 169

Meanwhile, Lito Adiwang is backing his former stablemate to level the series with Adriano Moraes at ONE 169 on Nov. 8.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA separately, the 31-year-old nicknamed 'Thunder Kid' offered:

"His [Adriano Moraes'] championship experience will be his main advantage here, but I think the fire to win will be much greater in Danny."

Moraes crossed paths with Danny Kingad at ONE: Legends of the World in November 2017. Kingad failed to match the Brazilian's expertise on the canvas and eventually tapped out to him inside the opening round of their world title contest in Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
