“The proof is in the pudding” - Two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty hyped for Muay Thai world title defense against Superlek in Denver
Two-sport world champion Jonathan Haggerty is ready to stake his claim as the planet's most dangerous striker.
Haggerty will defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai word title against another fighter with a similar argument the lofty distinction in Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 at Ball Arena.
Taking to Instagram, Jonathan Haggerty said he plans to show Superlek, the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, why he's considered one of the best Muay Thai fighters on the planet.
He wrote:
"The proof is in the pudding. P4P 🤴 @onechampionship. Looking forward to defending my world title in seven weeks in Denver, Colorado! #ANDSTILL"
Haggerty, who also holds the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship, is on the best stretch of his career and is riding an impressive six-fight winning streak that stretches back to December 2020.
His past three fights, though, truly showcased Haggerty's pedigree.
The British superstar earned the bantamweight Muay Thai throne when he knocked out the legendary Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 in April 2023.
He then captured the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship when he stopped Fabricio Andrade, the ONE bantamweight MMA world champion, in a champion-versus-champion superfight at ONE Fight Night 16.
Haggerty is now coming off an incredible third-round knockout win over Felipe Lobo in his first defense of his bantamweight Muay Thai strap.
Jonathan Haggerty is confident he can knock Superlek out in Denver
Riding a streak of three-straight knockout wins, Jonathan Haggerty is confident he can add a fourth one when he faces off against Superlek in Denver.
In an interview with Sky Sports News, which he shared on his YouTube channel, 'The General' said he's fully capable of knocking Superlek out and finally avenging his previous loss to the Thai superstar.
Haggerty first fought Superlek at Yokkao in 2018 but lost via doctor's stoppage.
"100% got the experience now. When I first fought with him, I probably had about 13 fights. Now, I've got the experience, I've got both the belts, and I believe I will stop him. I will beat him for sure."
