"The sport is now legit"- Dana White details the rules, regulations, TV deals etc. of his new promotion 'Power Slap'

UFC president Dana White recently made it official and announced that he is entering the slap-fighting world.

White revealed all the details, including the rules, TV deals, and the name of his newest combat sports venture, Power Slap:

“There’s official weight-classes, there’s rules, rankings, and extensive medical testing so with that all behind us, the sport is now legit and now we had to go and find a television partner. Why I’m here today, to announce to you guys that we’ve done a deal for an eight episode series that's going to air on TBS in January of 2023.”

The UFC President stressed that although there was some concern about him getting involved in the slap-fighting world, he assured that being involved will ensure that Power Slap is safer and more legitimate with the different weight divisions. He added that there are already plans in place for the roster:

“Lots of people have reached out and there’s a casting process – the casting has already started – so, we have like 150 people going through casting right now and I’m sure that some of them are in there. We’ll see how it all plays out.”

White mentioned that the main selling point was social media and how popular slap fighting has become and feels that it will play an important role in Power Slap’s success:

“If you guys do some research and start looking around on Instagram or YouTube and look at the numbers that this stuff pulls. And first of all, I mean it’s perfect for social media. It is literally the perfect… couldn’t have more perfect product for social media. And we believe that it’ll be strong on television too."

Will Dana White get Logan Paul on board?

Logan Paul asks Dana White if he would sign him to fight in the UFC 😅 https://t.co/ieMhrrB7zm

Dana White was asked whether he spoke with Logan Paul, who hosted a slap fighting event with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this year. The UFC President mentioned that he has spoken to many different people who have been involved in putting together similar events in the past.

White followed up on a question about whether he’d be interested in working with Paul on an event or even signing him:

“I like Logan [Paul] and he and I have a good relationship, so who knows. I wouldn’t say no.”

Paul most recently wrestled Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel in an entertaining match that was praised by fans and other pro wrestlers in the industry. However, he didn’t leave Crown Jewel unscathed as he sustained a torn meniscus, MCL, and possibly his ACL as well.
