Themba Gorimbo expresses heartfelt gratitude to "great man" Colby Covington

Themba Gorimbo recently changed gyms and joined Colby Covington at MMA Masters in Miami, Florida.

The UFC welterweight discussed the move in a press conference ahead of his second fight in the promotion at UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Hill. He spoke highly of his new teammate and termed Colby Covington a 'great man' while detailing his acts of kindness.

Gorimbo dismissed the hate around Covington and stated that you would have to know him up and close to understand him:

“Colby Covington, he’s such a great guy, man. Colby Covington, sometimes you bring food for me at the gym, you know. And people say what they want to say about him. But that guy is a great man, man. You have to know him to kind of know him. Just like me, you have to know me to kind of know me, you know. At the end of the day it’s just business. And I found home and I’m going all the way to the belt with the gym that I have now... And I have kind of found my serenity myself in Miami.”

Gorimbo also mentioned finding a collective spiritual belief in Miami that brought him fulfillment:

Themba Gorimbo finally secured his first victory in the octagon against Takashi Sato on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Hill.

Gorimbo won the fight via unanimous decision in a dominant performance through three rounds. A huge right hook in the second round floored his opponent and led viewers to call the fight right then and there. However, Gorimbo had to bide his time for the win.

He was thankful in his octagon interview with Michael Bisping:

“I can’t believe I’m in front of Michael Bisping. Dreams do come true for sure. And this is for my people. The love I have for Jason House, I love you probably more than your wife. Sorry Alisa. And my coach… You made me cry when I arrived in Miami seven weeks ago without money, without anything, the people back home my clients put money together for me to come to Miami and I didn’t have any time this man, that man looked after me. I appreciate each and everyone at MMA Masters.”

Gorimbo also had a warning to the welterweight division and a few call-outs in mind:

“I’m coming all the way to the welterweight [championship], come to my press conference, I got some names for you.”
