"There is an opportunity for him" - Fabricio Andrade not closing door on Jonathan Haggerty MMA fight

ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade is open to welcoming bantamweight kickboxing king Jonathan Haggerty to the MMA ranks — should he be interested.

During a recent conversation with the Bangkok Post, 'Wonder Boy' said:

"For sure — after Kwon there is no other name yet. There is John Lineker, but I already beat Lineker two times. If he wants to come, I think there is an opportunity for him. He can do one or two fights and have a little experience in MMA, and then I will be happy to fight him in MMA for sure."

Andrade and 'The General' crossed paths over the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship at ONE Fight Night 16 in November 2023, where the hard-hitting strikers showcased the entirety of their vast arsenals.

Though he never backed down from trading leather with the United Kingdom star, Andrade ultimately succumbed to Haggerty's vicious knockout power in the second round.

Fabricio Andrade set for first defense of ONE bantamweight MMA crown

Before potentially rematching Jonathan Haggerty under MMA rules, Fabricio Andrade will first defend the ONE bantamweight MMA world championship against Kwon Won Il at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, 2025, inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

'Pretty Boy' lost to the 27-year-old via knockout in June 2022, which secured Andrade's opportunity to fight John Lineker for the 145-pound MMA crown in October of that year.

Kwon, the third-ranked ONE bantamweight MMA competitor, bounced back from the Andrade upset by posting TKO victories over Mark Abelardo, Artem Belakh, and, most recently, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg this past June at ONE Fight Night 18.

With the renowned finishers set to renew hostilities at ONE 170 over 26 pounds of bantamweight MMA gold, fans can expect a highlight-reel knockout to happen.
