“There’s no problem for me” - Nong-O Hama says age difference not an issue against Kiamran Nabati, aims for KO win in Bangkok
Nong-O Hama is on a mission to defy Father Time in his next ONE Championship appearance. The Thai legend is on his redemption arc and will face the undefeated Kiamran Nabati in a crucial bantamweight Muay Thai match at ONE Friday Fights 81 on Friday at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
During the card's virtual press conference, Nong-O said age won't be a factor in his match against Nabati.
The former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion added that he wants to score a vicious knockout in front of his hometown fans in Bangkok.
Nong-O Hama said:
"No, there's no problem for me. I'm aware that I am older, but he just needs to be a little bit more prepared, get more training, and have good nutrition. And also if I have a chance to knock him out in the ring. So let's see it in the ring."
The 37-year-old is eight years the senior of Nabati, but he's adamant that he still has the power to send anyone who faces him to the shadow realm.
Nong-O is an impressive 11-2 in ONE Championship and went a perfect 10-0 in his first 10 matches in the promotion.
During that 10-fight winning streak, Nong-O went an insane 8-0 in his world title matches and defended the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title seven straight times before losing it to Jonathan Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9.
Coming off a calculated unanimous decision win over Kulabdam, Nong-O now looks to continue his form in hopes of securing a shot at the gold he once had over his shoulder.
Nong-O Hama wants to silence his doubters when he takes on Kiamran Nabati
On paper, Kiamran Nabati is as dangerous as anyone in ONE Championship.
The Russian slugger holds a perfect 21-0 professional record and is 3-0 in the promotion.
Such accolades would intimidate any regular fighter, but Nong-O Hama is no run-of-the-mill striker.
The multi-time Muay Thai world champion wants to silence his critics who regularly shot at his age, and there's no better way to shut them up than to hand Nabati a first career defeat:
"Many people say that I am too old in this field, so I will show that even though I am 37, I am still in good shape," said Nong-O in an interview with ONE Championship.
