"These people damage real rape victims" - UFC veteran reacts to TikToker Meredith Brown accusing Alex Pereira of physical abuse

A former UFC veteran recently reacted to TikToker Meredith Brown accusing Alex Pereira of physical abuse in videos on her social media. He shared his thoughts on why he believes the light heavyweight champion is being unfairly targeted.

The accusations are quite serious as the TikToker implied that she was being taken advantage of and that she didn't give consent to Pereira. Brown's comments haven't yet been addressed by the promotion or by the Brazilian's team, because of which there is plenty of uncertainty around what transpired.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Jake Shields recently took to his X account in defense of 'Poatan.' He criticized Brown for making the accusations because he believes it was disrespectful to women who have been victims.

He wrote:

"This girl claims she was raped by Alex Pereira. She admits that he asked if he could stick it, she then consented and helped him. He was a gentleman and stayed over and cuddled and now she's saying she was raped. These people damage real rape victims."

Meredith Brown says incident with Alex Pereira has resulted in mental health struggle

Meredith Brown's accusations against reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira stem from UFC 302, which took place in Newark, New Jersey in June.

The TikToker posted a statement on her account claiming that she has struggled with her mental health as a result of the incident. Brown stressed that she isn't using Pereira's name for attention and added that she is sympathetic to other women who are victims.

She wrote:

"Took me a while to find the courage to come out and say this, but I've been struggling so much with my mental health and I can barely get out of bed these days...I know some people won't believe me and think I'm 'clout chasing' and stuff like that but I just wanna feel normal again and I'm hoping maybe me finding the courage to tell my story is the first step in that direction."
