“This is the hardest camp” - Jonathan Haggerty admits he’s pushed himself to the limit for Superlek war at ONE 168: Denver
Jonathan Haggerty has pushed himself to the absolute limit while training for his world title clash with Superlek Kiatmoo9.
On Friday, September 6, the two-sport king returns to the Circle set to put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line against 'The Kicking Machine' at ONE 168: Denver. The two combat sports icons will close the show with one of the most anticipated headliners of the year.
Coming off a trio of epic-level knockouts against Nong-O Hama, Fabricio Andrade, and Felipe Lobo, Jonathan Haggerty has looked practically unbeatable since making the move from flyweight to bantamweight.
But despite all his success, Haggerty is by no means taking it easy while training. In fact, the UK superstar has left no stone unturned in the gym to ensure that he has all the weapons he needs to come out on top against one of Thailand's most dangerous strikers. Haggerty said in an interview with ONE:
“We’ve left no stone unturned. I know everybody says this, but really, this is the hardest camp I’ve ever done. This is 13 weeks of solid, hard work, dieting, head down.”
Superlek seeks champ-champ status against Jonathan Haggerty at ONE 168: Denver
Not to be outdone, Superlek has been working how in the month leading up to his long-awaited rematch with 'The General' at ONE 168: Denver.
In 2018, the two tussled under the Yokkao banner with 'The Kicking Machine' coming out via a second-round doctor's stoppage. Now, with the two warriors at the top of their game, they'll run it back as Superlek looks to snatch away Haggerty's champ-champ status.
Haggerty goes into ONE 168: Denver holding both the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world championships while the Thai superstar reigns at the ONE flyweight kickboxing world titleholder.
If Superlek comes out on top, he'll etch his own name in the history books as ONE's newest two-division champ while stripping away Haggerty's dual-sport status.
