“This one first, before anything else” - Takeru Segawa is laser focused on Thant Zin before next move in ONE Championship

Legendary kickboxer Takeru Segawa knows well about his priority, and he's now laser-focused in returning to competition at ONE Friday Fights 81.

Scheduled to face Burmese striker Thant Zin inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, Sept. 17, Takeru wants to showcase his improvements in this sophomore appearance with ONE Championship.

Nonetheless, he has a long-term goal of fighting the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

In an interview with South China Morning Post, 'The Natural Born Crusher' spoke about his targets in the promotion:

"The reason why I came to ONE Championship is to fight against Rodtang. So if I win on Friday, the next fight should be against Rodtang."

He also added:

"But right now, I’m totally focused on the fight this Friday. This one first, before anything else."

At ONE Friday Fights 81, Takeru wants to flip the script and return to winning ways after an unfortunate debut in January, where he failed in his efforts to beat Superlek Kiatmoo9 for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title.

Takeru Segawa excited to showcase his skills at ONE Friday Fights 81

Japanese megastar Takeru Segawa can't hide his excitement ahead of his second outing with the largest martial arts organization, and he wants to claim a massive victory.

With a huge target to fight Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the 31-year-old Yonago City native sees his next clash as a proving ground, despite at the expense of Myanmar's Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81.

Speaking in the same interview with South China Morning Post, Takeru shared his mindset ahead of this bout:

"I'm very glad to be back, and i'm very excited to fight at ONE Friday Fights this Friday. I [want to produce] a knockout in front of the fans."
