"This sort of thing motivates me" - Jonathan Haggerty says finishing Superlek will shut his critics up once and for all
ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion Jonathan Haggerty has long accepted that he's not everybody's cup of tea. Still, 'The General' finds great joy in proving people wrong time and time again.
Even after he achieved two-sport supremacy, there were still detractors who questioned if the British star deserved to be among the elite. At ONE 168: Denver, Haggerty plans to erase all doubts once and for all by taking out one of the most feared strikers in 'The Art of Eight Limbs'.
ONE's return to 'The Mile High City' will feature Haggerty defending his Muay Thai crown against flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.
'The Kicking Machine', who is on a red-hot 10-fight winning streak, is indeed the Brit's most credentialed challenger to date. Plus, the Thai megastar also bested Haggerty in combat before, a result that still irks the double champ even to this day.
Speaking on part two of his Road to Superlek series on YouTube, Haggerty said he's motivated to once again do the improbable and add another glowing accomplishment to his resume:
"There were a lot of people who said I was not going to be able to do [this], not going to be able to beat Superlek. So this sort of thing motivates me."

Jonathan Haggerty believes he already has Superlek all figured out
Even some of the greatest strikers in the world like Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa were unable to discern Superlek's uniquely remarkable striking style.
However, Jonathan Haggerty is supremely confident that he'll be 'The Kicking Machine's' kryptonite at ONE 168.
'The General' shared:
"We're going to be working on a lot of blocking and counter-attacking. So, for instance, he likes to throw the jab a lot before he kicks. However, we've been working on that. We're starting to see his weaknesses."
